How did you get your first software developer job? How long did it take you?

I'm trying to get in the field. Honestly I dont have much experience. I have no actual related work experience in the field but I'm a CS student. I know some Java and some ruby. Also html and css. I've applied a bunch of places and have only heard back from a couple. I'm just wondering how was your luck getting your first job? How many places did you apply? How long did it take ?
